Self-Portrait
Practice:
Mixed media collage
Materials: Repurposed packaging and printed materials, acrylic paint, spray paint, and POSCA markers
Process: Layered construction using salvaged packaging as structure and surface. Painted and sprayed colour fields establish rhythm and contrast, with hand-drawn linework.
Edition: One of one

Created for an internal Marks studio challenge, this self-portrait uses discarded packaging as both material and subject. The piece reflects the overlap between personal identity and professional output, balancing structure with improvisation. Found forms dictate the composition, while colour, texture, and line pull the image back into something recognisably human. It sits somewhere between illustration, object, and artefact, which felt appropriate given the context it came from.
